Jessica & Logan’s Engagement Session in Downtown Annapolis

A beautiful portrait of a man and woman sitting on a bicycle in downtown Annapolis, with a mural as the backdrop.

Engagement photos are nice, but the best thing about an engagement session is the way it sets you up for a good experience working with your photographer on your wedding day. That’s really what Jessica, Logan and I were doing in Downtown Annapolis this day. More than anything we were just having a good time and getting to know one another and devoting a rapport that we’d rely on come their wedding day in a couple of months.

We started at the Maryland State House and stayed pretty close to that area.We deliberately didn’t venture down toward the water because, well, to be honest the Annapolis Waterfront is one of those places that feels good to be in, but doesn’t look all that spectacular in images. Plus, it’s pretty much always awash with tourists. So instead we walked around the historic back roads of the district, stopping to take photos in front of the colorful houses and alleyways, and eventually ending up on the campus of St. Johns College.

Throughout the session, Jessica and Logan were natural and comfortable with each other, and I could tell they were having a great time – and so was I. The photos reflect their personalities perfectly, and I’m so glad I was able to capture their playful and quirky side.
