A Family Portrait Stroll Around Lincoln Park in Washington DC

I wanted to share about a family portrait session I had with Sarah, Rich, and their two daughters in the bustling streets of DC and Lincoln Park. It was a late afternoon in late March when we met up to start the session.

We spent some time walking around the city looking for interesting locations to take pictures in, and we found some really cool spots. One of the highlights was a piece of public art called “Balance” by Marcia Billig. It’s a popular statue among the locals. The girls loved it and it was a great representation of their personalities, as they are always tumbling around, climbing on things and trying to do acrobatics like the kids in the statue.

After roaming the streets for a while, we ended up at Lincoln Park which was busy but gave us some really cute shots. It’s a special place for the family, and just a really nice spot in general, even when it’s busy.

We made a point during the session to include their aging family dog, Dilla, in a few of the shots. Dilla passed away not long after the session, so it was really special that we were able to capture some images with her while she was still here. It’s always a good idea to try and include photos with the furry members of our families whenever possible, since their lives are shorter than ours and we might not get another chance. I’m extremely glad we took the time to do it in this case.

Overall, it was a really fun and enjoyable session with a wonderful family. I’m so glad I was able to capture these memories for them.
