It’s always great to reconnect with past clients, especially when it leads to new and exciting opportunities. This was the case when I was introduced to Lindsay and Matt through Lindsay’s sister, Jessica. Jessica and I go way back (like, pushing two decades now), she was one of my first clients back when I was just starting out in the industry. Over the years, we’ve kept in touch on and off, and I’ve watched her grow a successful branding operation, even delving into photography herself and creating some really beautiful work.
When the time came for Lindsay’s wedding, Jessica could have easily taken on the role of the photographer. But, as she pointed out, who wants to be working at their own sister’s wedding! I was both thrilled and honored when Jessica recommended me for the job.
Lindsay and Matt have an awesome wedding in the works, and it’s exciting to come full circle with this family and be a part of it. But before the big day, we needed to capture some engagement photos. These photos are not just for their Save the Date cards, but also an opportunity for us to get to know each other. And get to know each other we did!
Choosing the perfect location for the shoot was made easy with our new Location Discovery Tool. After exploring a few options, Lindsay settled on Downtown Annapolis. This historic city offers a plethora of picturesque spots, from the elegant pathways of St John’s College to the charming waterfront.
We began our session near St John’s College, a great starting point due to its ample parking and convenient meeting spots. The college also offers a scenic route through historic streets, leading us to the water. It was a wonderful way to sample what Downtown Annapolis has to offer.
As our session came to a close, we found ourselves by the water. Using a drone, we captured a unique “boat-eye-view” of Lindsay and Matt sitting on the dock. As the sun began to set, we found a spot with romantic string lights in the background, providing a perfect end to our session. Despite dodging raindrops throughout the day, we were rewarded with a beautiful sunset. The images turned out wonderfully, and I’m even more excited to be a part of their wedding day.
This engagement session was not just about capturing beautiful photos, but also about building connections and creating memories. I’m grateful to Jessica for recommending me, and to Lindsay and Matt for trusting me to capture these precious moments. I can’t wait to see what their wedding day brings!
