Hi, my name is William.

I have been photographing the important moments at people’s weddings for almost 20 years. It’s not that I just love weddings, it’s that seldom are so many things that will matter for the rest of your life happening in such a short period of time, and seldom are so many of them at risk of being lost to memory forever. I see meaning in those moments unfolding around me, even when others often don’t, and I hate that they are so fleeting. I’m here to try and do something about it.

Let's talk!

I will never share your information with anyone, and I will never spam you.

Why do my clients like working with me?

Wedding photography is basically every kind of photography, all rolled into about 8 short hours — especially here in Maryland, DC and Virginia, where there is such a diversity of environments — with that can come a lot of uncertainties. I’m a wedding photographer who can take charge, or go with the flow depending what the moment calls for, all while staying calm and keeping my priorities in line with what matters the most to you. Next to a really excellent wedding planner, a photographer with lots of diverse experience is one of the best assets you can have on your wedding day, and that’s what I aim to be.

The Wedding Photography Process

A tremendous amount of planning will go into your wedding, and your photography is no different. For weddings here in Maryland, DC or Virginia, here is the entire process from start to finish.

Engagement sessions can be held on any date we have available up until the day before your wedding.

Engagement Photos Are Edited & Delivered
It will take me a week or two to work through your engagement photos, pick the best, and edit them in a way that compliments the images themselves. Plan Your Wedding
There's lots to do. Guest lists, seating charts, dinner menus, flowers, entertainment, transportation, hair & makeup, all the legal stuff to make it official. The list goes on. I'm here to help with recommendations, pointers and advice the whole way. I even made an extensive directory of vendors that I have worked with, including an emphasis on some of my favorites. In any way that I can, I want to help make your wedding day, fun, memorable and stress free.

The day has finally come! 🥳
The Wedding Day
On the wedding day I'll arrive a little bit early to look around and make some creative decisions, then when coverage begins we’ll follow our plan throughout the day and use high-level priorities lists to adapt to any unexpected changes that might arise. Congratulations, you’re married!

Images Are Backed Up
Securely backing up the images captured on your wedding day is one of the most important steps I'll take. The images will be stored in three separate places to make sure there is redundancy in the unlikely event of a disaster.

Images Are Surveyed
I will come home from your wedding having captured a ton of images. Several thousand, probably. Most of them will be redundant of one another, some of them will be unflattering, and a few of them will simply not have work for one technical reason or another. During the image survey, I will get a clearer sense of everything we captured on your wedding day, I will choose some preview images to send you, and I will start to experiment with my stylistic approach to your unique images.

Previews Are Ready!
After the survey is complete and I have mostly settled on how to best edit your wedding day, I will send you a set of 30 to 50 high resolution preview images which you can use right away for thank you cards, prints, gifts, social media, or whatever else you like.

Editing is Underway
Your images will be edited in four phases. The first phase deals with culling the images to find the best. I'll remove redundant and unflattering images, as well as images with poor technical execution. The next phases will deal with high-level edits for style that compliments your unique wedding, while maintaining a mostly true to life representation of color tone. The final phase will deal with areas that need special attention, for example, closed eyes in important family portraits or removing a prominent blemish on a wedding dress in key images. The final phase will deal with color consistency to help achieve a tonal consistency from one image to the next.

Choose Your Favorites For Your Album
If your package included a wedding album, or you added one a la carte, the ball is in your court. You're going to have a lot of photos to pick from, and to make this easier for you, all you will have to do is pick some favorites and I will do the rest. Your album will hold somewhere between about 60 and 100 images, but you can choose as many favorites as you want and I'll use my professional expertise and creative intuition to pick the best ones for your first proof. There's no rush though, you'll have a whole year to send me your favorites.
Up to 365 days after your gallery is delivered
Your Album is Being Designed
I will design an album which prioritizes the narrative perspective of your wedding day, while maintaining the individual beauty in unique images and including as many of them as possible. This first proof can take some time, but subsequent proofs, if necessary, will usually come along more quickly.

Your First Proof is Ready
The first proof will be delivered as a PDF in an email. I'll ask you to take your time looking over it again and again to let the design settle in and get a feel for how the layout sits with over a few days. Take some notes as you go. Notice any images you think you'd rather replace, notice any images you think you'd like to remove, or images you would like to add. Note whether anything about the layout or the flow of images feels like it could use improvement to your taste.

Submit revisions or go to print
If you love the first proof, then we can send it off to the lab for print. But if you have taken some notes, we can move onto a second proof and repeat this process as many times as necessary for up to 365 days. Subsequent revisions to your proof will usually take 5 to 7 days depending on the time of year and how extensive the list of change requests is.
Up to 365 days after your first proof is delivered

Your album arrives!
Your album will be shipped directly to you and packaged with care instructions. Place it on your coffee table, and look through it regularly to relive the brightest spots of your wedding day and remember how lucky you are to have found someone that you love and are spending the rest of your life with.

These Are Your Stories

A gallery full of wedding photos is the result of sometimes hundreds of hours planning, preparing, shooting, curating, editing and making sure everything is just right. There is often just too much of my heart and soul in those galleries to just send them and be done with it. My wedding blog is an opportunity to fulfill that desire, while also showcasing the moments from the real weddings that I put so much energy into. These are real stories, from perspective, complete with a whole boatload of images.
