About  The Belair Mansion

Belair Mansion, located in Bowie, Maryland, has a rich history that dates back to the early 18th century. The mansion was built by Samuel Ogle, the provincial governor of Maryland, in 1745 as his summer residence. The mansion and its surrounding 6-acre property served as a farmstead, and it was home to several generations of the Ogle family until it was sold in 1898.

In the early 20th century, the mansion served as a country club and later as a girls’ school before it was purchased by the City of Bowie in 1964 and used briefly as a City Hall. Since then, the mansion has been restored and opened to the public as a museum, providing visitors with a glimpse into the life of a wealthy Maryland family during the colonial period.

the mansion’s exterior architecture features beautiful brickwork, expansive windows, and symmetrical design that can provide an excellent backdrop for photography. The mansion’s outdoor landscapes are also well-manicured and feature several picturesque locations for photo sessions.

Additionally, while photography is not allowed indoors without special permission, the museum’s grounds provide plenty of open spaces for photography. The mansion’s porch, veranda, and outdoor patio areas are also available for use and can provide a unique backdrop for photography.

Moreover, the short walking distances from the parking lot to the shooting locations make it convenient for families with young children or individuals with mobility issues. As a lightly trafficked location. the Belair Mansion’s relative privacy also offers a tranquil atmosphere, enabling clients to feel comfortable and relaxed during their photo session.

Belair Mansion’s convenient location near the Washington D.C. metro area makes it an ideal option for those who want a historic and picturesque location for their photoshoots
