The Irvine Nature Center is a private, non-profit nature center located on 210 acres of land in the Caves Valley Historic District in Owings Mills, Maryland. It was founded by Olivia Irvine Dodge in 1975 in an old barn on the grounds of St. Timothy’s School in Stevenson, Maryland. The purpose of the center was to teach children about the vulnerability of the planet and encourage them to take an active role in protecting it.

Today, the Irvine Nature Center is the only private, non-profit nature center in the region. It includes a 17,200-square-foot green exhibit hall, classrooms, an outdoor classroom, an amphitheater, and trails for visitors to explore. The center is open to the public and welcomes approximately 80,000 visitors every year.
