The history of Quiet Waters Park dates back to the 1930s, when the park was originally used as a picnic area. In the 1950s, the park was acquired by Anne Arundel County and was developed into the park we know today. Over the years, Quiet Waters Park has undergone numerous renovations, including the addition of a playground, a beach, and several hiking trails. Today, Quiet Waters Park is considered one of the most beautiful parks in Maryland and attracts thousands of visitors every year.
One of the most popular areas within Quiet Waters Park is the scenic beach. The beach is perfect for swimming, sunbathing, and fishing. Visitors can also rent paddle boats or kayaks to explore the park’s serene lakes. For those who prefer to stay on land, there are several hiking trails that offer stunning views of the park and its surroundings.
Another popular area within Quiet Waters Park is the playground. The playground is designed for children of all ages and offers a variety of play equipment, including swings, slides, and a sand pit. The playground is surrounded by picnic tables, making it the perfect spot for a family picnic.
For those who enjoy the great outdoors, Quiet Waters Park offers several hiking trails. These trails range from easy to moderate in difficulty, making them accessible for visitors of all fitness levels. The trails offer a variety of scenic views, including forests, meadows, and lakes.
In addition to its scenic beauty, Quiet Waters Park also offers several amenities for visitors. There are several picnic areas throughout the park, as well as a concession stand that serves snacks and drinks. The park also has several restrooms and a first-aid station.
Quiet Waters Park is open year-round, with varying operating hours depending on the season. In the summer, the park is open from 6:00 AM to dusk. In the winter, the park is open from 8:00 AM to dusk. Visitors are encouraged to check the park’s website for the most up-to-date operating hours.
Quiet Waters also offers a number of great facilities for events such as weddings, most notably the Blue Heron Center. Reservations are required to use the various spaces. If you’re planning a larger event with food and drink, it’s important to note that you’ll have to work with one of their authorized caterers, although there are around 20 to choose from. These caterers not only provide and serve food and drink, but will also need to handle all setup and clean-up procedures. So, before signing any agreements with a caterer, it’s critical to confirm their status as an Authorized Caterer with the venue.
Also, if you expect that alcohol will be a part of your event, and the chosen caterer does not have a Statewide Caterers License, a Temporary One-Day Liquor License needs to be secured from Anne Arundel County in advance.
The outdoor facilities are available for rent in blocks of two hours, and the indoor Blue Heron Center covers an 8-hour period which includes 2.5 hours for setup, 4 hours for the event itself, and 1.5 hours for clean-up. Extra hours can be requested.
